2009 Lancefield Open Ambrose
Lancefield Golf Club held its Annual Open Ambrose on Sunday 6 December 2009 with 13 teams of 4 competing in blue sky and nil wind conditions. The Club was particularly pleased to see so many visitors in the mix. A light lunch was enjoyed by all - thanks Diane Brennan and Gary Dudderidge - after which awards were presented by President Peter McLaughlin and Captain Barry Brennan.
This year our prizes were very kindly donated by long-time Club sponsors McKinnons Retravision of Sunbury (www.retravision.com.au).
Winners were Luke Malone, Nathan Malone, Aaron Andrews and Matthew Bowden who recorded 67 gross for a tidy 54 nett (team handicap 13).
Runners-up were Brett Lockens, Ken Lambert, Craig Davenport and Lisa Atley with 62 (54 7/8 nett) from a handicap of 7 1/8.

2009 Captain's Trophy
Members and guests took part in the Captain's Trophy Stableford event held over two Saturdays, 14 and 21 November 2009. Some very good scores were returned, with Wayne Dunt (19) recording a gross 80 for 47 Stableford points in the first round. Graeme Brennan, Chris Lingard and Hugh Parks all recorded 42 points on the first day.
Top score in the 2nd Round was Trevor Allen (14) with 43 Stableford points. With 37 points in Round 1, Trevor took out the 2009 Captain's Trophy. Congratulations Trevor.
2009 Lancefield Ladies Open
The Lancefield Ladies Open was held on Thursday 12 November 2009.
Thirty one ladies representing ten clubs played in the event, including players from Murray Downs and Marysville. Due to the predicted hot conditions, the event was shortened to 14 holes.

2009 Annual Gala Day Tournament
The Club's major fundraising event was held on 24 October 2009. Thirty four Members and 12 visitors played the 18 hole stroke event in perfect spring conditions and enjoyed a light lunch afterwards.
Ken Lambert (7) shot one over par 73 for a nett 66 to take out
first prize of a free 12 month Club Membership. Congratulations Ken.
Runner up was Simon Nabbs (23) with nett 68.

Best Visitors score was Dean Jones (Romsey GC) (5) with nett 70. Dean also won a free Membership for 12 months.
The $1000 first prize in the Gala Day Raffle was won by visitor and Club supporter Nicholas Harvey (pictured right). Well done Nicholas.
Several minor prizes including bottles of wine donated by local wineries and a dinner for two at Soltan Pepper in Romsey were also won.
The Club extends its thanks to all Members and Visitors who helped make the day a great success, to greens staff and volunteers who had the course in great shape, to bar assistants and to Helen Dennett & Jenni Vennell for help in the kitchen.

2009 Dash for Ca$h
Ten teams fought out the inaugural Dash for Ca$h competition held on Sunday 13 September 2009. This was a 3 BBB event in which the best Stableford score was recorded in each group.
The weather was fine, the course in great condition after recent rains and the greens slick! The winners shared the first prize of $500 and everyone enjoyed a great sausage sizzle afterwards washed down with a variety of beverages (thanks Dennis!).

2009 Club Championships
Lancefield Golf Club has now completed both Mens and Ladies Club Championships for 2009.
Mens - Club Champion for 2009 (A Grade) is Chris Lingard (233 gross), from Trevor Lambert and Darren Ryan on 241. Fantastic effort Chris!!
B Grade Champion is Barry Brennan on 261 gross, ahead of Bert Parks on 265. Well done Barry - three nett rounds of 72 is a great effort, given the conditions. This result also gave Barry the Blomberg Trophy for best nett score (216).
C Grade: three players on 295 gross played off on Saturday 19 September (Andrew Hyndes, Michael Lingard and Dave Muller). Andrew and Dave were equal at the 18th on 96, both bogied the 19th (first hole) and Dave Muller made par on the 20th to take C Grade by one stroke from Andrew. Congratulations Dave.

Ladies - It is quite a few years since Lancefield held a Ladies Club Championship, and with the recent increase in lady members and considerable enthusiasm it was decided to hold this event beginning Wednesday 2 September. The event was a single grade handicap competition with the winner being decided from the best two nett scores from three rounds.
The final round was held on Wednesday 16 September with Helen Dennett (150 nett for two rounds) the Ladies Club Champion for 2009, and Pam Drummond (154) runner-up. Congratulations to Helen and to all the ladies who took part in this event. For photos see PICTURE GALLERY ARCHIVES.
Junior Open
A small but quality field of Juniors competed in the Lancefield Junior Open on Thursday 1 October 2009, in perfect spring conditions.
The entrants competed for honours in two grades. Additionally, for the first year, the best nett score from the Lancefield Open, and on the following day, the Romsey Open, were in the running for the Chris Gaunt Trophy.
Results were -
A Grade - Jarryd McGill (Lancefield) nett 74, runner up Connor Whelan (Woodend) nett 75.
B Grade - Jarrad White (Romsey) nett 68, runner up Luke Rebbechi (Lancefield) nett 71.
Congratulations go to Jarrad White who went on to take out the Chris Gaunt Trophy.
